When plastic ends up in the ocean it breaks apart and leaches chemicals. Fish and other animals eat it and they can die. When we go fishing, we catch and eat the fish and the plastic can get into our bodies. The effects could cause illness.
You should be careful of what you do with your garbage. Don’t leave it on the beach or litter anywhere else. Make sure you clean up and recycle as much as you can.
Even though most litter is left on land away from the ocean. The garbage ends up there because it’s washed or blown into sewers and drains. The drains empty into rivers and creeks and then it goes out into the ocean. The currents bring it out to sea.

The PS3 is the newest game console in my house. It is a PS3 slim and includes the PlayStation Move which is similar to the WII because when you hold the remote it senses your movement.
It comes with the game Sports Champions. We also have Call of Duty Black Ops, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Grand Turismo 5, Lego Batman and Time-Shift. My favorites are Sports Champions and Call of Duty Black Ops. Call of Duty Black Ops is an awesome first person shooter game. You will be impressed by the game-play. You can basically just head to campaign. While playing the game make sure you check out all the things you can do, like multi-player and many other features. Check on PlayStation Network and select combat training. You will begin a simulation of online game-play. Trust me it is hard but a good thing to try.
Sports Champions is also an amazing sports game. I like the gladiator duel sport so much that it is my favorite sport in the game. Here is a hint, do you want to unlock a character already ? Well, to unlock the character complete all the sports training stages. What is the character’s name ? I’ll let you find that out. So that is all I can talk about the PS3. Did you find any thing intresting about the PS3? Let me know when you do.

I’m writing about Jackson Pollock. Our class learned about the 7 elements of art and Jackson Pollock’s work.
Jackson Pollock is a master of art. He is using my favorite type of style, drip and splash. He normally uses a canvas to paint on.
Three of the elements I see in his work are: texture it is the way it feels when you touch or look at it. Another element is colour. Colour is created by reflection of light. The basic colors are red, blue, green, yellow and orange. A third element is line. Lines are easy to use, they can be curved, straight or even circular. They can be different lengths and widths.
I’m going to compare my painting to Jackson Pollocks. One thing is that he used paint and a canvas and I used a computer. The second thing is that Jackson Pollock has a painting with texture but my painting is on computer so there is no texture. He used a paint brush and I used a mouse. When he danced around all I did is click and draged. if you want to paint Jackson Pollock style click this link.
In Nova Scotia in 2007 a student was wearing a pink shirt on his first day of school. He was harrased and was called a homosexual. Two grade 12 students from his school decided to go to the store and buy 50 pink shirts for school the next day. They emailed the students from their school and give them pink shirts to wear. The next day hundreds of students wore pink to school. The bullied student felt well supported and he wasn’t bullied at school again.
You should wear pink on the 23rd of Febuary because it is the day we stand up to bullies and help support students that are being bullied. That is what Pink shirt day is about.
If you see someone being bullied don’t be a bystander. You can get help by getting a teacher or an adult or maybe even another student. People who are bullied can feel scared and hurt for a lifetime.
My commitment is not be a bystander and get help when someone is being bullied.

Safer Internet Day was February 8th this year. On this day it is promoted to teach younger people to use more caution when they use the internet and other technology.
When you are online don’t post any embarrasing photos or videos of anyone. Once on the internet, search engines scan those videos and photos and you might think you have deleted something but it’s not totally gone. Another thing that you need to be aware of is posting personal information. For example, you shouldn’t put your address, full name, age or phone number on the internet because you don’t want strangers to find out who you are and where you live.
There are a lot of other things you need to be careful about when using the internet. I really hope you have all learned something about internet safety.

Happy New Year everyone! My New Year’s Eve was good. I spent it at home with my 2 brothers. We drank sparkling apple juice and played video games. We made it until midnight then we went to bed.
This year I have made 4 New Years resolutions. My personal goal is to lose weight. I want to get more fit. I will do this by exercising, eating healthy and being more energetic.
My goal at school is to join the basketball & football team. I like these sports. I will practice, exercise and get experience.
The local goal I chose was to recycle more to help prevent global warming. To achieve this goal I will reduce garbage, reuse things, and recycle more at home and school.
My global goal is to reduce my carbon foot print. I walk to school, recycle and don’t use aerosol products. I want the earth can heal itself.
Tell me about your New Years resolutions and New Years Eve.

I really enjoy playing Wii games. The Wii console lets you do lots of things like downloading channels, browse for miis, and you can also play Nintendo Game Cube games as long as you have a Game Cube controller. If you have Internet you can go to the Wii shopping channel because there are Wii demos available now. Just click on Wii ware, and then search by genre to download one of the six games.
They are good games, but they take two hundred or more memory blocks. At least they are worth it. One of them is less then one hundred memory blocks. It’s called Through Space. It’s supposed to be a 3D version of Tetris and it’s awesome for a free version. If you haven’t downloaded a channel from the Wii Shopping Channel before you just have to wait for Mario to hit all 3 of the blocks and then it will say “download successful”.
Try one demo at a time. See if you like the demo games and if you do you’ll probably want the full version, but remember this will cost Wii points to buy. I’m just happy to play the demos because there are free and I don’t have to spend any Wii points, which is good because I don’t have any Wii points.
If you download any demos to play, please leave me a comment to tell me what you think of them.

Last week our class worked on The Angle Project. I’ll call it TAP for short. We learned about right angles, reflex angles, straight angles, obtuse angles and acute angles. A right angle is shaped like a half of a square. It is 90°. A reflex angle is more than 180°. When you measure a reflex angle you measure the outside of the angle. It can be tricky. Straight angles are 180° and are straight lines across. Obtuse angles are more than 90° and less than 180°. An acute angle is less than 90°.
One of the activities we did for TAP was going all around the school and school yard taking pictures of angles. I found angles everywhere I looked. We loaded the pictures on the computer and then used a program to draw and label on the angles. It was a great activity and everyone liked doing it. We also played a game called Alien Angles on the computer. The game was good.
I learned a lot about angles last week and I hope this helps you to learn about them too.
Have you checked your school yard, classroom or hallway for angles? I bet you’ll find a lot.
I joined the blogging challenge because when I heard that you can earn a blog I was excited. I earned mine by commenting on four blogs around the world and showing Mrs. Braidwood that I could protect my personal information. I feel great about blogging. I think posting will help improve my writing skills.
Some things I am planning to write about are school subjects, video games, life events and things my teacher wants me to write about.
What should I write though? What have you been writing about? You can help my blog by sharing ideas with me.
